Outpost nursing (also referred to as travel nursing) is for registered nurses who have the experience, skills and willingness to work in sometimes very challenging conditions. By challenging, we are speaking of the increased responsibility that comes with working in small remote communities.
It is also very rewarding. The opportunity to see nature in its most unspoiled and beautiful state is an amazing experience. Recreational activities abound - from hiking and fishing…to canoeing, kayaking and wildlife watching. Or just relax in your own private residence watching TV shows and movies via satellite, practicing your culinary skills, or reading a few good books. Most residences are conveniently located next door to the fully equipped clinic where you will be working.
For many nurses, the personal satisfaction and sense of accomplishment that comes from working within a broadened scope of nursing practice is a major plus. For others, learning about and working within the cultural uniqueness of the First Nations population is an added bonus. And finally…the chance to earn excellent wages, with travel and accommodations fully paid is something everyone welcomes.
